    Vad behövs för att vara medveten? Författaren tar oss med på en djupdykning för att studera hur medvetenheten kan ha utvecklats under årmiljonerna. Det ändamålsenliga naturliga urvalet synas och beskrivs för några arter för att leda till slutsatsen att vi är inte ensamma att ha en uppfattning om vår omvärld.
